About Proclivity Systems
Proclivity Systems offers a predictive behavioral targeting platform that transforms customer interactions into targeted, high-revenue generating communication. Proclivity's flagship solution, Proclivity Mail, generates up to 25% increases in actual revenue per email campaign, producing millions in additional online retail revenue.
Challenge
As Sheldon Gilbert's first venture as founder and CEO, he lacked a speaking and media resume. When Proclivity engaged our services, the company could not yet offer the names of any clients to the media. Proclivity was also in the process of lining up a second round of investors. By raising Proclivity's profile among prospective clients and investors, we had an opportunity to directly impact the company's bottom line.
Solution
We ignored the media assets Proclivity didn't have and instead focused on what assets the company did possess. Using Sheldon's compelling personal story to draw interest in the genesis of the company helped to garner media attention and cast Sheldon in the role of visionary and thought leader. To that end, our media relations campaign heavily emphasized byline articles and opportunities for Sheldon to comment on online retail trends.
We also knew that a few big hits in top business publications, along with the right speaking opportunities, could serve as the tipping point and firmly establish Sheldon as an industry authority. We achieved those goals with positive, dedicated coverage in The New York Times, Fast Company, and high-profile industry speaking engagements at Shop.org and the DMA Conference & Exhibition, all in 2008.
