Employees Donate Winter Clothing and Serve Holiday Meals at Iris House
NEW YORK -- January 4, 2007 -- Affect Strategies, a public relations and strategic marketing firm, recently donated time and clothing to promote community service and spread holiday cheer. Affect employees prepared holiday meals and donated clothing and gifts for the residents of Iris House (www.irishouse.org), a community organization established to provide services for women, men and families who are infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS virus.
Established by the Women and AIDS Working Group, the mission of Iris House is to provide services for women, men and their families who are living with the HIV/AIDS virus. The community organization, headquartered in Harlem, offers practical, family-centered services that promote prevention and education while addressing the day-to-day realities of living with HIV/AIDS. Through strategic program development, Iris House spearheads prevention efforts and advocates for improved awareness to achieve its goals.
Affect team members volunteered to help prepare and serve meals at Iris House's Holiday Luncheon on December 21, 2006. Some employees assisted kitchen staff with the preparation of salads, turkey platters, hot side dishes and desserts for the holiday meal while others acted as wait staff, pleasantly serving residents throughout dinner. Affect Strategies also took part in the Iris House holiday party, distributing gifts and donating new winter coats and clothing collected during a month-long clothing drive organized by Affect Strategies.
"Community service and teamwork are two concepts we strive to keep as part of the Affect Strategies philosophy and culture," said Affect Strategies President, Sandra Fathi. "Although our contribution was small, it was extremely rewarding and we hope that it brought some momentary joy to the lives of Iris House clients. We are very grateful that Iris House allowed us to be part of their holiday program."
In an effort to continue to assist Iris House and its clients, Affect Strategies Public Relations Director, Courtney Chauvin and Director of Marketing Programs, Leslie Campisi plan to return to conduct classes on interview skills and job training. Affect Strategies also donates its services to Bergen Family Centers (www.bergenfamilycenter.org) and has participated in the American Legacy Foundation's charity race Circle of Friends Mini 10K (www.mini10k.org).
